Alliance/AFT is a strong and vibrant organization. Today the organization is fast approaching 10,000 members. The union leadership is quoted often on TV, radio, and in the newspaper as it responds to issues of importance to members. Alliance/AFT regularly receives membership growth awards from its state and national affiliates. It is active in school board elections and state-wide politics with two committees: UTPAC and PAVE. The union, through its Education Center Committee, is involved in improving district staff development. It serves on every major district committee, and adds the employees' perspective.

The Oklahoma City AFT (OKC-AFT) prides itself on the high level of service we deliver to teachers. You are our number one concern. Service includes grievance representation; representation in complaint hearings; everyday problem solving in matters concerning contract enforcement, payroll discrepancies, job security, working conditions and dozens of other categories. Four full-time staff reps working only for Oklahoma City teachers, are trained to give you the excellent service and representation you deserve. Our reputation as active problem solvers was earned -- and we’re proud of it.
